In this beautiful light-filled Almaden Valley home in San Jose, Before ‘n After was hired to do a classic “from the ground up” makeover. Clients have lived in their home for 8 years and were hopelessly stuck when it came to decorating. They had purchased “the bones” (larger pieces of furniture), but didn’t know where to go from there. The few accessories that they had provided our inspiration and away we went! Prior to painting, the living room mantle and hearth were a stark white and the walls a chalky beige. Taking a cue from the fireplace architecture, we decided on warm brown tones for the room with an extra punch of color for the fireplace. Next, shopping – and lots of it as the client needed furniture pieces for the living room and foyer as well as lighting, artwork and accessories. The result? What was once a living room used simply as access to the back of the house now commands attention and invites the would be passer-by to enter and enjoy!
