When a plumbing leak ruined the hardwood floors, she knew it was time for the new kitchen she’d anticipated for years. Everything was wrong with the old kitchen – the weird unworkable layout, the unusable cabinets, old appliances, broken light fixtures — everything! She always wanted white cabinets and quartz counter tops – the challenge was making it work in her vintage Willow Glen home. To start, Lois added a larger over- the- sink garden window adding light to a dark space. Blending a mix of old world and new, Lois designed the kitchen using large drawers for quick easy access with over-sized pulls, bead board panels, a farmhouse sink, lighted glass- front upper cabinets, vintage beveled subway tiles and a modern mosaic glass accent tile for the back splash and new appliances. Redesigning an older home always presents technical challenges making the finish line all the sweeter and the transformation nothing short of amazing!
